Sinte Mwilima recently launched Afrikart, an online marketplace or online retail service that helps local retailers make their products more accessible in the digital space.

“When the pandemic started last year, I had this idea – I realized that many local retailers lacked a digital presence, so I decided to create an easy-to-use, low-cost platform. with payment gateways and delivery companies built into the site, ”she said.

The 20-year-old graduated in business administration from the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), where she continued her education with honors.

She explained that sellers from anywhere in Namibia can register on the platform (www.afrikart-na.com), where they can sell their products for free, with a 10% commission.

Payments can be made online and deliveries can be tracked on its website, among others. Products that could be sold include hair, clothing, stationery, furniture, and dry foods.

“The market seems to be crowded and there is a great fear of new business entry, which makes it difficult for small businesses to advertise their products on a large scale. Besides the fear of growing due to business competition, many business owners are still learning how to improve their business through digital marketing, ”said Mwilima.

Afrikart’s business model is similar to that of AliExpress, based in China. Mwilima strongly advises vendors and any other business to join Afrikart and help put Namibia on the map.

“I will also market your products to international customers. “Other than that, she assures vendors that her platform is very secure, and only vendors with Security Sockets Layer certificates will be verified to use her platform to avoid crooks.

Mwilima accepts payments from 86 countries and works with international shipping lines from the US and UK.
