Former clothing retailer switches to cannabis amid pandemic, opens store near Conestoga Mall in Waterloo
The burgeoning legal cannabis market is expanding with the opening of another retail store in Waterloo.
Sessions, an Ontario-based retail brand, will hold a grand opening this Saturday, March 27 at 573 King St. N (at Northfield Drive), starting at 9 a.m. with a ribbon cutting and a day of promotions and gifts to follow.
The 1,800 square foot space promises to be a local source for some of the most reputable and popular cannabis brands in the industry offering a range of product types including dried flower, pre-rolls , vaporizers, edibles, beverages and accessories.
Owner Kelly Warren previously operated her own clothing store for eight-and-a-half years, but said she was challenged to keep her business thriving amid shutdowns and ever-changing operational regulations.
In a statement, Warren admits the cannabis industry is new to her, but says her team of well-trained employees, known as “budtenders,” will share their product knowledge with Sessions customers.
“A customer shouldn’t need to feel like an expert to visit a Sessions store,” Warren said in the statement. “This store will be for everyone; whether you’re a seasoned consumer or just curious about what’s new in cannabis, you’ll feel comfortable exploring the space and everything we have in store. I want our customers to feel as comfortable stopping for what they need as they do at the grocery store or the LCBO.
